What Is Your Vision Of Success?
In order to achieve success, you first need to have a vision of what success means to you. Ask yourself these questions, "What would I be doing if I were successfull?" Or possibly, "In my opinion, what does a successful person look like to me?" Some examples of this could be: "Retired, living near the beach in Florida, not having a care in the world." or... "Running my own business and doing what I love." or... "Working in my garden all day." Whatever it is, it doesn't matter. There is no right or wrong answer here since everyone has their own idea of what success is. What matters is that you visualize your dream in a crystal clear manner. Doing this will set your mind on a course that will lead you towards that dream. Now take a few minutes to think about what your idea of success looks like and write it down...
Now that you know what success will look like for you, it's time to set some goals that will help you get there. Zig Ziglar once said, "You cannot hit a target you cannot see. You cannot see a target you don't have." Setting very clear and specific goals will help you achieve success sooner and more easily. Here are a few characteristics of what a good goal should be: 1. Specific. It should be a specific event or thing that you want to accomplish (ie. To retire by the age of 55). 2. Clear. There should be no confusion or vagueness about what you want to accomplish. 3. Measurable. You should easily be able to tell if you have achieved it. 4. Relevant to Values. Your goals and your values should agree with each other. Doing something that goes against one of your core values will lead to unhappiness and failure. Take some time now to set 3 to 5 goals that you would like to accomplish. Remember, achieving these goals will lead you down your path of success. Write these goals down and post them, along with your vision, where you can see them every day!
